THE STARTER REPORTED: a) ARIZONA LADY (M Yeni) and SHIKOKU (G Lerena) were stubborn loading. Trainer J J van Vuuren and Trainer R R Magner were advised to reschool these horses prior to their next engagements (BN). THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Jockey R Danielson felt something amiss with CHASING HEART in running and eased this filly out of the race from the 400m. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. b) SHIKOKU (G Lerena) hung in from the 300m. c) In the concluding stages, HIGH FLYBY (C Zackey) had to switch out in anticipation of running onto the heels of ARDEN PARK (W Kennedy). d) Jockey K de Melo reported that MAYENNE made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. e) In view of the Veterinary Surgeon's report concerning CHASING HEART, and in terms of Rule 93.1, this filly is suspended from racing for a period of sixty days in any race under the jurisdiction of the National Horseracing Authority. Stable Employee M Ncube advised (NHA). f) ARDEN PARK (W Kennedy), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis (AH). Stable Employee M Ncube advised (AH). When questioned telephonically regarding the improved performance of this filly, Trainer C Dawson told the Stewards that in her opinion the fitting of the tongue tie had accounted for the improvement. Trainer Dawson has undertaken to race this filly similarly equipped in future. JOCKEY CHANGES: None. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: a) NATIONAL STAR raced with a tongue tie on (declared 2 April 2022 at 07H08). THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) MAYENNE examined post race, nothing obvious detected. b) CHASING HEART bilateral epistaxis. Recommended 60-day suspension. Trainer C Dawson advised telephonically (MB). THERE WERE NO SCRATCHINGS. DISQUALIFIED / DECLARED NON-RUNNER: None.
