THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) At approximately the 250m, SUPER EXCITED (M Yeni) took an awkward stride which resulted in this gelding stumbling badly and becoming unbalanced. b) HASTA MANANA (S Khumalo) was hanging out from the 300m. c) SAFE RETURN (A Marcus) over-raced in the early and middle stages and compounded in the straight. In view of the performance of this gelding (16.75 lengths, 7/1 in the betting) the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. d) WATERBERRY LANE (K de Melo), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
