THE STARTER REPORTED: a) WINCHESTER MANSION (G Cheyne) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) SOLAR POWER (L Mxothwa) and TOP QUALITY (S Khumalo) brushed shortly after the start. b) At the 400m WINCHESTER MANSION (G Cheyne) had to be steadied away from the heels of TOP QUALITY (S Khumalo) which was unable to secure clear running along the inside running rail, was steadied and directed outwards and then rolled out. Thereafter, approaching the 200m, TOP QUALITY (S Khumalo) rolled in and had to be steadied for a number of strides when awkwardly placed on the outside of FORT RED (R Khathi). Jockey S Khumalo appeared before the Board, was questioned regarding the incident at the 400m and was advised to take more care in similar circumstances. c) SOLAR POWER, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
