THE STARTER REPORTED: a) RAINING AGAIN (+B Ncwadi) was restless in the stalls, reared shortly after the start was effected, dislodged the rider and bolted the course. b) BARNBOUGLE (+B Thwalani) and FLOWER PECKER (+A Matshokotsha) were restless in the stalls. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) After arriving at the course correctly shod, RAINING AGAIN (+B Ncwadi) cast his right hind shoe which the farrier was unable to replace as this gelding proved difficult. As a result, the left hind shoe was removed and RAINING AGAIN (+B Ncwadi) raced unshod behind. b) The Stewards reviewed the start of this race with regards to RAINING AGAIN (+B Ncwadi) in stall gate 4 and established the gelding had reared and dislodged Work Rider B Ncwadi after the start had been effected. The stewards were satisfied that RAINING AGAIN had not been impeded and deemed this gelding to be a runner. c) The saddle on CAPTAIN MORNE (+A Nzongo) slipped sideways in the latter stages, resulting in work rider A Nzongo being dislodged in the pull up area. This precluded him from weighing back in. The Stewards, acting in terms of Rule 66.2, were satisfied that this gelding had carried the correct weight. d) In view of the performance of TRIP TO MARS (Distance 21.85 ; Betting 17/2) the veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. e) In view of the report from the starter regarding RAINING AGAIN (+B Ncwadi), this gelding's starting stall certificate has been withdrawn and he is suspended in terms of Rule 61.6.10 and until such time as he proves to be tractable with a companion. Suspension dates: 14/04/2022 to 20/04/2022 inclusive). RAINING AGAIN may not be presented for re-passing during this period. f) Work Rider L Geledu was charged with a contravention of Rule 55.4 in that he failed to weigh out at the carded weight on SHORT SHARP SHOCK. Work Rider L Geledu signed an admission of guilt and is suspended from riding in one (1) Work Rider's race. g) DON REPOSADO, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer C Bass-Robinson was advised.
