THE STARTER REPORTED: a) WINTER AIR (B Fayd'Herbe) was stubborn to load. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) WHISPERS OF WAR (AUS) (L Mohapi) threw its head up repeatedly leaving the Starting Stalls. Thereafter, this colt over-raced in the early and middle stages, raced wide around the turn between the 1300 and 900m and improved to take up a forward position. b) Approaching the 1400m, EXTRACT (*M Zuma) which showed a tendency to over-race in the middle stages was allowed to take the lead. Thereafter, EXTRACT (*M Zuma) raced clear of the field between the 1300m and 350m. c) In view of the performance of MINGSHI (*K Strydom), (14.15 lengths, betting 6/1), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. d) Jockey A Mgudlwa reported that he felt something amiss with BEND THE RULES in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. e) THE APPEAL (S Moodley), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer A Wright advised (HM).
