THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) RA'ED (+J Arendse) and SUGAR BEACH (+M Duba) jumped awkwardly leaving the stalls.
b) BIG FIVE (+I Lukhele) was slow losing three lengths. Trainer J S Roux was advised to reschool this gelding prior to his next engagement (PHvdW).
c) NORTHERN TUNE (+T Ncume) refused to jump losing many lengths. The starting stall certificate for this gelding has been withdrawn. Trainer B B Ruiters was advised (LS).
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:
a) As the start was effected, NORTHERN TUNE (+T Ncume), in stall gate number 11, bumped the right-side front gate with its muzzle on two occasions. This resulted in the left front gate on stall gate number 10 bouncing back and making contact with SUGAR BEACH (+M Duba) as this filly left the stalls.
b) Work Rider D Botha (GREAT MELODY) and Work Rider I Lukhele (BIG FIVE) appeared before the Board in the presence of Work Rider Welfare Officer, Mr M Mienie, were shown the patrol films of the race and were reminded of their obligation to ride their mounts out to the end of races.
c) Work Rider I Lukhele reported that BIG FIVE changed stride continually in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
d) In view of the Starter's report with regard to NORTHERN TUNE, this gelding's starting stall certificate has been withdrawn and he is suspended in terms of Rule 61.6.10 for a period of 7 days and until such time as he proves tractable loading with a companion.
Suspension dates: 15 April 2022 to 21 April 2022. NORTHERN TUNE may not be presented for re-passing during this period. Trainer B B Ruiters was advised
e) MIKE THE PILOT (+S Mosia), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.

a) BIG FIVE examined post race, nothing obvious detected.
b) SUGAR BEACH mouth injury.
c) GREAT MELODY cast its right front shoe in running.

a) DEVON DASHER abnormal blood count (Trainer) (Rule 53.5 applies).
