THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) ASHANTI SWORD (C Habib) was slow into stride.
b) ORGETORIX (J P van der Merwe) was slow losing two lengths.
c) WALALA WASALA (W Kennedy) was stubborn loading.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:
a) Leaving the 300m, GONE IN TIME (G Lerena) was carried out marginally by BEVOETERD (C Zackey) which commenced to hang out from the 400m.
b) WALALA WASALA (W Kennedy) hung in from the 250m. When taking into consideration this filly's history with regards to hanging and covering unnecessary ground in its races, Trainer J J van Vuuren is to be advised to take the necessary corrective measures to ensure that this filly improves her racing manners in future.
c) The padding to Jockey G Lerena's (GONE IN TIME) crop became detached at the 200m.
d) Jockey S Khumalo did not persevere with his ride in the concluding stages and thereafter reported something amiss with GUAPO in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
e) In view of the Veterinary Surgeon's report concerning GUAPO, and in terms of Rule 93.1, this filly is suspended from racing for a period of sixty days (60) in any race under the jurisdiction of the National Horseracing Authority. Stable Employee C Jena advised (NHA).
f) BEVOETERD (C Zackey), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Stable Employee F Naude advised (LN).
g) WALALA WASALA (W Kennedy), placed second, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis (MdP).
JOCKEY CHANGES:
