THE STARTER REPORTED: a) ALLOWAY GROVE (R Munger) kicked in the stalls. b) BACK TO FORMENTERA (J van der Merwe) was nervous in the stalls. c) REBECCA GRACE (*K Strydom) was nervous and kicked in the stalls. d) JAYTARA (S Khathi), which was stubborn loading and nervous in the stalls, jumped awkwardly and was slow into stride. e) DEVASTATOR (M van Rensburg) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) BACK TO FORMENTERA (J van der Merwe) over raced and raced without cover in the early stages. b) LA VIDA (L Mxothwa) was hanging out from the 500m and thereafter shifted both ways away from the crop from the 300m. Jockey L Mxothwa was questioned regarding the poor performance of LA VIDA. He explained to the Board that the filly hung out, thereafter shifted around and finished the race off very one-paced. c) Jockey C Habib reported he felt something amiss with WORD PROCESSOR. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this filly. d) WORD PROCESSOR (C Habib) returned suffering from a bilateral epistaxis due to an exercise induced pulmonary haemorrhage and is suspended, for a period of 60 days, from racing in any race under the jurisdiction of The National Horseracing Authority of Southern Africa in terms of Rule 93.1. (Dr J Batt) e) Jockey S Khathi reported JAYTARA coughed post-race. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this filly. f) ALLOWAY GROVE, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Stable Employee G Venter, acting on behalf of Trainer T Laing, was advised. (LM) Stable Employee G Venter was questioned regarding the improved performance of ALLOWAY GROVE. He could offer no suitable explanation. Stable Employee G Venter's attention was drawn to the rules pertaining to in and out running.
