THE STARTER REPORTED: a) LEBANESE POUND (G Lerena) was slow losing one length. b) MERCANTOUR (D De Gouveia) reared in the stalls. This gelding was removed from the stalls, examined by the Course Veterinary Surgeon, passed fit to race and reloaded. c) STELLA BRILLANTE (K Matsunyane) jumped inwards leaving the stalls. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Shortly after the start, LEBANESE POUND (G Lerena) was squeezed out between VASILIKOS (M Yeni) and STELLA BRILLANTE (K Matsunyane) which jumped inwards leaving the stalls. b) Jockey G Lerena reported that LEBANESE POUND did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this colt. c) MERCANTOUR (D De Gouveia), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer S T Pettigrew advised (AH). JOCKEY CHANGES: None. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: None. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) LEBANESE POUND blowing. b) EXISTENTIALIST lame left front.
