THE STARTER REPORTED: a) DESTINED TO DANCE (C Bantam) and LOOK HOMEWARD (A Andrews) were restless in the stalls. b) DESTINED TO DANCE (C Bantam) jumped slow, losing two lengths and thereafter was slow into stride. c) WAYWARD GIRL (C Orffer) jumped slow, losing two lengths. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) FLUID MOTION (K Steyn) and RED KITE (G van Niekerk) were examined at the start by the course veterinary surgeon and passed suitable to race, causing a delay. b) Leaving the 1400m SENHORA VICTORIA (A Domeyer), which raced green on the bend, was momentarily steadied when awkwardly placed on the inside of FLUID MOTION (K Steyn). c) At the 400m DESTINED TO DANCE (C Bantam) was steadied away from the heels of MICROBURST (G Behr) which shifted away from the crop and had to be straightened. d) Jockey A Andrews reported LOOK HOMEWARD did not stride out freely in running. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this filly. e) Jockey C Zackey was charged with a contravention of Rule 55.4 in that he failed to weigh out at the carded weight on SILKY SECRET, resulting in a change of rider. Jockey Zackey signed an admission of guilt and was given a warning. In determining penalty, the Board took into account that Jockey Zackey advised a Stipendiary Steward as soon as he was aware that he would not be able to make the carded weight (advised 09h25) and his previous record with regard to this Rule. f) CRUIZIN CALIFORNIA, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer A Alsop, acting on behalf of Trainer VH Marshall, was advised.
