THE STARTER REPORTED: a) GEM KING (B Fayd'Herbe) jumped slow, losing one length and thereafter was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Leaving the 150m GEM KING (B Fayd'Herbe), which had improved into a narrow run between the inside running rail and FUTURE PRINCE (L Mxothwa), shifted in away from FUTURE PRINCE (L Mxothwa), which rolled and then shifted out away from the inside running rail and was bumped on the hindquarter by FUTURE PRINCE (L Mxothwa), resulting in both horses becoming momentarily unbalanced approaching the 50m. b) Jockey C Zackey reported THUNDER MASTER, which took an awkward stride leaving the 800m, failed to respond to his urgings in the straight and he did not persevere with his riding from the 200m. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. c) GEM KING, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer ELP Steyn was advised.
