THE STARTER REPORTED: a) SEA OF TRANQUILITY (J P van der Merwe) was slow into stride. b) RIO'S KISS (W Kennedy) jumped inwards and IMBEWU (G Lerena) jumped outwards leaving the stalls. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Shortly after the start, IMBEWU (G Lerena) which jumped outwards and RIO'S KISS (W Kennedy) which jumped inwards, came together and bumped on two occasions. b) IMBEWU (G Lerena) hung out around the turn. c) When afforded the opportunity to place on record any factors which may have accounted for the poor performance of REMEMBER WHEN, Jockey K de Melo explained to the Board that this filly had returned with blood in her mouth. The Veterinary Surgeons were requested to establish the source of the blood. Jockey de Melo further added that this filly had travelled well, however approaching the 200m, she had tired very badly and commenced to drop back in the field. It was also his opinion that REMEMBER WHEN may be best suited to races over 1000m. Jockey de Melo's version was corroborated by the video footage of the race. Trainer J van Vuuren will be requested to report back to the Board on the condition of this filly on return to stables. d) LOOK YOURSELF (K Matsunyane), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Stable Employee C Jena advised (RS). JOCKEY CHANGES: None. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: a) GIN AND TONIC raced fitted with a compression mask (declared 20 April 2022 at 12H45). b) SEA OF TRANQULITY raced with a tongue tie on (declared 26 April 2022 at 07H42). THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) REMEMBER WHEN returned with blood in the mouth, no obvious injury detected. b) LOOK YOURSELF abnormal respiratory noise. c) LOLLAPALOOZA coughing. THERE WERE NO SCRATCHINGS. DISQUALIFIED / DECLARED NON-RUNNER: None.
