THE STARTER REPORTED: a) SET TO GO (W Kennedy) was stubborn loading. b) UNION SQUARE (R Fourie) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) At approximately the 300m, MAGIC TATTOO (C Habib) was carried in and had to steady to avoid the heels of VAR PARK (D De Gouveia) which was hanging in and ducked in as Jockey De Gouveia changed his hold in an attempt to correct the colt and to change his crop hand in the process. As a consequence, COOL WINTER (M Yeni) was switched in to continue its run. The Stewards deemed that there was no rider negligence involved in this incident and took no further action. b) Jockey K de Melo reported that KARANGETANG changed stride continually in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this colt. c) MISS COOL (G Lerena), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer P A Peter advised (RS). d) UNION SQUARE (R Fourie), placed second, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
