THE STARTER HAD NO REPORTS. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Shortly before the finish line, Jockey R Fourie (SOUND OF WARNING) dropped his right-side rein which he only regained in the pull up area. b) Jockey W Kennedy reported that he felt something amiss with FREED FROM DESIRE in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. c) In view of the Veterinary Surgeon's report concerning FREED FROM DESIRE, and in terms of Rule 93.1, this filly is suspended from racing for a period of sixty days in any race under the jurisdiction of the National Horseracing Authority. Trainer P A Peter advised (NHA). d) WINTER SMOKE (R Munger), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
