THE STARTER REPORTED: a) ANNA CAPRI reared in the stalls and dislodged Jockey J P van der Merwe who after a short period, remounted in the stalls. Trainer D J Nieuwenhuizen was advised to re-school this filly prior to her next engagement (GT). b) MR COBBS (R Fourie) was slow into stride. c) ALESIAN CHIEF (C Habib) jumped awkwardly leaving the stalls. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Jockey S Khumalo reported that BOHICA made an abnormal respiratory noise in running and did not persevere with his riding in the concluding stages. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. Trainer A Azzie was requested to report back to the Board on the condition of this gelding on return to stables. b) MASTER ARCHIE (G Lerena), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer P A Pater advised (RS). c) BIG BURN (W Kennedy), placed second, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer P A Pater advised (LK). d) TRUE TO LIFE (K Matsunyane), placed third, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Stable Employee D Cooper advised (AH). JOCKEY CHANGES: None. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: a) AFRICAN RAIN Jockey A Domeyer weighed out at 58,8kg, 0,5kg over the carded weight. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) BOHICA examined past race, nothing obvious detected. b) HEAVENS GIRL lame right front. Veterinary Certificate required prior to racing (Rule 49.7 applies).
