THE STARTER REPORTED: a) ALLEZ LES BLEU (AUS) (J Penny) was restless in the stalls. b) IMPOSING ANGEL (J P van der Merwe), GRECIA (D Schwarz), VERINOVA (*J R Syster), MAGIC CHOICE (M van Rensburg) and TWELVE OAKS (*P Mxoli) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Shortly after the start, IMPOSING ANGEL (J P van der Merwe) was bumped in by VANTAGE POINT (*K A Brewer), which jumped awkwardly leaving the stalls. b) MAGIC CHOICE (M van Rensburg), after being slow away, failed to muster speed and raced detached from the field throughout. Thereafter, Jockey M van Rensburg reported that he felt something amiss with MAGIC CHOICE in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. c) An inquiry will be opened into why IMPOSING ANGEL (J P van der Merwe) had to ease shortly before the finish line. d) SAMOA (G Lerena), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer S Paterson, acting on behalf of Trainer B H Stidolph, advised (LA). e) MAGIC CHOICE (M van Rensburg), unplaced, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
