THE STARTER REPORTED: a) SUDDEN STAR (L Mxothwa) was fractious in the stalls, kicked the back gate, taken out, examined by the course veterinary surgeon and passed suitable to race, causing a delay. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) In view of the performance of SUDDEN STAR (L Mxothwa) (Betting 3/1 ; Distance 20.50) the veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. b) Jockey A Andrews reported that COUP DE MAIN changed stride continually in running and he did not persevere with his riding from the 400m. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. c) Jockey G van Niekerk reported that KARIBA HALL failed to respond to his urgings in the straight and he did not persevere with his riding from the 200m. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. d) In view of the report from the Starter regarding SUDDEN STAR (L Mxothwa), Trainer B Crawford will be advised to have this gelding re- schooled before his next engagement in terms of Rule 61.6.10. e) DUBAI LIGHTS, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
