THE STARTER HAD NO REPORTS. a) SO LONG SPRING was slow losing many lengths. The starting stall certificate for this gelding has been withdrawn. Trainer T Zackey was advised (GT). THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) At approximately the 150m, FLYING FIRST CLASS (C Habib) was carried out marginally by KURT'S APPROVAL (K Matsunyane), which hung out. Thereafter, shortly before the finish line, FLYING FIRST CLASS (C Habib) and KURT'S APPROVAL (K Matsunyane) came together and bumped. An Objection was lodged by Jockey C Habib, the rider of the second-placed horse, FLYING FIRST CLASS, against the winner, KURT'S APPROVAL (K Matsunyane), on the grounds of intimidation and interference in the concluding stages. The Objection Board, after giving due consideration to the evidence put forward by the connections, the marginal carry, the distance of 0,40 lengths between the two horses involved and the role played by both horses in the bump shortly before the finish line, determined that FLYING FIRST CLASS (C Habib) would not have finished ahead of KURT'S APPROVAL (K Matsunyane) and therefore overruled the Objection and allowed the Judges result to stand. Jockey C Habib's deposit was refunded. b) In view of the Starter's report with regard to SO LONG SPRING, this gelding's starting stall certificate has been withdrawn and he is suspended in terms of Rule 61.6.10 for a period of 7 days and until such time as he proves tractable jumping with a companion. Suspension dates: 6 May 2022 to 12 May 2022. SO LONG SPRING may not be presented for re-passing during this period. Trainer T Zackey was advised c) KURT'S APPROVAL (K Matsunyane), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer D Mulligan, acting on behalf of Trainer E Verdonese, advised (LN). When questioned regarding the improved performance of KURT'S APPROVAL, Assistant Trainer D Mulligan, acting on behalf of Trainer E Verdonese, could offer the Board no suitable explanation. His attention was drawn to the Rules pertaining to In and Out running and he was advised that should this gelding continue to display such erratic form, it may be suspended. JOCKEY CHANGES: a) IMPERIOUS LIGHT: Jockey B Nyawo weighed out at 55,2kg, 0,5kg over the carded weight. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: a) APOLLO ROBBINS raced with a compression mask (declared 28 April 2022 at 13H15). b) FLYING FIRST CLASS raced with a compression mask (declared 4 May 2022 at 12H56). c) ATOMIC BLONDE: Jockey R A Venniker weighed out at 53,5kg, 1kg over the carded weight as declared on 5 May 2022 at 07H47. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) ATOMIC BLONDE nasal discharge in right nostril. THERE WERE NO SCRATCHINGS. DISQUALIFIED / DECLARED NON-RUNNER: None.
