THE STARTER REPORTED: a) QUEST FOR THE BEST (*M Zuma) kicked the back gates, which resulted in SON OF SILK (*R Venniker) becoming fractious and rushing the front gates. SON OF SILK (*R Venniker) was removed from the stalls, examined by the Veterinary Surgeon and scratched. b) OVER THE BAY (*P Mxoli) lost one length and thereafter was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) FOREST JUMP (*M Katjedi) raced wide throughout. b) WINTER WAVES (*K Strydom) was hanging out from the 500m. c) At the 100m, STANLEY (*K Brewer) was brushed out by RUNNING FREELY (*J Syster), which shifted out away from the crop. Thereafter, RUNNING FREELY (*J Syster) and STANLEY (*K Brewer) brushed shortly before the finish. d) Apprentice M Katjedi accidentally dropped his crop at the 100m. e) Apprentice P Mxoli reported that OVER THE BAY did not stride out freely in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. f) WINTER WAVES (*K Strydom), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer A Wright advised (NS).
