THE STARTER REPORTED: a) CHOICE ASSORTED (R Munger) was slow losing one length. b) THE FIRST VICEROY (S Brown) broke through the front gates and bolted. This resulted in STOLEN THUNDER (K Matsunyane) becoming restless and breaking through. STOLEN THUNDER was restrained by its Rider, returned to the start, checked by the Course Veterinary Surgeon, passed fit to race and reloaded. The Starting Stall Certificate for THE FIRST VICEROY has been withdrawn. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) In view of the Starter's report with regard to THE FIRST VICEROY, this gelding has been suspended in terms of Rule 61.6.10 for a period of 7 days and until such time as it proves tractable loading and jumping on terms with a companion. Suspension dates: 11 May 2022 to 17 May 2022. THE FIRST VICEROY may not be presented for repassing during this period. Trainer P F Matchett advised (GT). b) FORTTUVA (*J R Syster) was eased out of the race at the 600m. Thereafter Apprentice Syster reported that this gelding had choked up in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine FORTTUVA. c) Jockey C Zackey reported that he felt something amiss with MICHELIN STAR in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. d) In view of the Veterinary Surgeon's report concerning MICHELIN STAR, and in terms of Rule 93.1, this gelding is suspended from racing for a period of sixty days in any race under the jurisdiction of the National Horseracing Authority. Trainer M N Houdalakis advised (NHA). e) STOLEN THUNDER (K Matsunyane), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Stable Employee J Crawford advised (RS). JOCKEY CHANGES: a) ROYAL TIGER was ridden by Jockey C Habib (declared 10 May 2022 at 10H15). RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: a) FORTTUVA is a gelding (gelded 10 January 2022), incorrectly carded. b) POLDARK raced with a tongue tie on and without earmuffs (declared 7 May 2022 at 22H14). THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) FORTTUVA choked up. b) MICHELIN STAR coughing and bilateral epistaxis, confirmed on scope. Recommended 60-day suspension.
