THE STARTER REPORTED: a) I'M IN CHARGE (C Bantam) was fractious in the stalls, reared repeatedly, was taken out, examined by the course veterinary surgeon, passed suitable to race and reloaded, causing a delay. b) ADMIRAL'S RANSOM (J Jacobs) jumped awkwardly inwards. c) HORSEY (C Zackey) jumped outwards. d) GLOBAL MOVEMENT (A Domeyer) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) MASTERFUL GUY (R Fourie) raced wide without cover on the bend. b) At the 150m GEOPOLITICAL (S Khumalo) which commenced to give ground and was hanging in, shifted in and had to be steadied away from the heels of ADMIRAL'S RANSOM (J Jacobs). c) STATE OF SHOCK (O Noach) raced tight on the inside of ROBERT BURNS (L Mxothwa) at the finish d) Jockey C Bantam appeared before the Board, his attention was drawn to Rule 58.10.2 (G) and he was advised not to use his crop when his mounts are out of contention for a place. e) Jockey G van Niekerk was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that he misused his crop by striking KAPUZINER more than 12 times in the entire race. Jockey van Niekerk signed an admission of guilt and was fined R1500,00. In determining penalty, the Board took into account the distance over and manner in which Jockey G van Niekerk used his crop, the number of strikes (17) over the permissible level and this gelding's finishing position. f) In view of the performance of ROCK ON TOMMY (D Ashby) the veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. g) In view of the report from the starter regarding I'M IN CHARGE (C Bantam), this gelding's starting stall certificate has been withdrawn and he is suspended in terms of Rule 61.6.10 and until such time as he proves to be tractable with a companion. Suspension dates: 12/05/2022 to 18/05/2022 inclusive). I'M IN CHARGE may not be presented for re-passing during this period. h) KAPUZINER, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer SJ Snaith was advised.
