THE STARTER REPORTED: a) KALAHARI FERRARI (C Zackey) rushed the front gate as the start was effected. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) The stewards had no patrol film footage between the 250m and the concluding stages of this race due to a technical issue. This report will be forwarded to Kenilworth Racing. b) ELUSIVE TRADER (S Khumalo) was not persevered with in the closing stages and was dismounted just after the finish line. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. c) At the 300m TRANSACT (K de Melo) was brushed inwards by ROD THE MOD (D Ashby) which shifted in away from the crop and was immediately straightened. d) The Stewards called a race review into the start concerning KALAHARI FERRARI (C Zackey) in stall gate 2. After reviewing the start from various angles, it was established that KALAHARI FERRARI (C Zackey) pre-empted the start and rushed the front gates, which were broken open marginally before the Starter released the gates. The Stewards considered the provisions of Rule 61.6.11 and were satisfied that KALAHARI FERRARI (C Zackey) was in its starting stall when the Starter released the starting stalls and therefore had not gained an advantage on the rest of the field and so declared the gelding to be a runner. e) DOUBLE CHARGE, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer WA Nel was advised. (JF) f) KALAHARI FERRARI, the second-placed horse, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer C Snaith, acting on behalf of Trainer SJ Snaith, was advised.
