THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) MAIDEN'S COVE (*K Brewer) was restless, kicked in the stalls and jumped slow, losing one length.
b) GLOBAL MARK (T Gould) jumped slow, losing one length.
c) LILY OF ORANGE (W Kennedy) jumped slow, losing three lengths.
d) ITSA KINDA (JP van der Merwe) jumped awkwardly inwards.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:
a) IRISH SEA (M van Rensburg) and ITSA KINDA (JP van der Merwe) refused to settle in the early stages.
b) Leaving the 150m QUESTION THE STARS (G Cheyne) was awkwardly placed on the outside of HEATHCLIFF (G van Niekerk) which rolled out.
c) At the finish ITSA KINDA (JP van der Merwe) was steadied in anticipation of running onto the heels of ABSOLU NOIR (D Bogaleboile) which shifted out away from the crop.
d) Jockey L Mxothwa reported CHASING CHEETAHS did not stride out freely in running. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
e) Jockey S Khathi reported FORT DAWN changed stride continually in running. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
f) Jockey W Kennedy reported he felt something amiss with LILY OF ORANGE, which was hanging out on the bend. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this filly.
g) In view of the performance of ITSA KINDA (JP van der Merwe) the veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
h) In view of the report from the Starter regarding LILY OF ORANGE (W Kennedy), Trainer GD Smith will be advised to have this filly re- schooled before her next engagement in terms of Rule 61.6.10.
i) Jockey D Bogaleboile was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline C on the use of the crop) in that he misused his crop by striking ABSOLU NOIR more than three times on consecutive strides. Jockey D Bogaleboile signed an admission of guilt and was fined R1000,00.
j) MAIDEN'S COVE, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer GD Smith was advised. (LM)
