THE STARTER REPORTED: a) IZHIESTIA (K Minnie) was nervous and reared in the stalls. b) WICKED GRIN (W Kennedy) was nervous in the stalls and jumped awkwardly c) UNCOMPLICATED (M van Rensburg) jumped slow, losing one length. d) FLASH GALA (T Gould), BOLD RESOLVE (G Cheyne) and INTERSTATE (*K Brewer) were slow into stride. e) WILDEYE (*K Strydom) stumbled leaving the stalls. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Jockey W Kennedy was badly unbalanced when WICKED GRIN jumped out as the gates opened and made contact with the outside partition of the stalls. Thereafter this gelding shifted inwards and Jockey Kennedy dropped his crop in the process. b) IDEAL VIEW (JP van der Merwe) over raced in the early and middle stages. c) Jockey X Ndlovu (EMPERORS DECREE), which was hanging in in the straight and proved difficult to assist and was not persevered with from the 250m, raced with its tongue over the bit. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. d) BOLD RESOLVE, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer AC Greeff was advised.
