THE STARTER REPORTED: a) BRAVE VOYAGER (C Zackey) nudged open the front gates prematurely and this gelding was restrained by the handler allocated to it. Thereafter, the starting stalls were re-set and the start effected. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) Approaching the 1300m, NATIONAL DREAM (K de Melo) was carried wide by BELLE'S FIRST WAVE (S Khumalo) which shifted out when awkwardly placed on the heels of REEF BOUND (B Jacobson). b) IN THE SUMMERTIME (A Marcus) shifted in away from the crop between the 200m and the 150m. c) Jockey R Khathi reported that he felt something amiss with SIR THEODORE in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. d) Jockey A Marcus reported that IN THE SUMMERTIME made an abnormal respiratory noise in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. e) In view of the Veterinary Surgeon's report concerning SIR THEODORE, and in terms of Rule 93.1, this gelding is suspended for 60 days from racing in any race under the jurisdiction of the National Horseracing Authority. Trainer N Kotzen was advised. (Suspension Dates : 15.05.22 to the 14.07.22, bdi) f) FORWARD SPELL (W Kennedy), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer G H van Zyl advised (NS). g) SIR THEODORE (R Khathi), unplaced, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer N Kotzen advised (HM). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES : a) FORWARD SPELL raced with a cornell collar. b) SIR THEODORE raced without blinkers (advised 14.05.22/8h06). c) QUICK RESPONSE raced with a compression mask. d) TRITON raced with a compression mask. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER : a) SIR THEODORE is a gelding. Gelded 24.03.22 (advised 13.05.22). THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED : a) SIR THEODORE : Bi-lateral epistaxis.
