THE STARTER REPORTED: a) Fair start. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) DOUBLE GEMINI (*D Geerthsen) was hanging in between the 400m and the 300m. Thereafter, Apprentice D Geerthsen accidentally dropped his crop at approximately the 200m. b) In the concluding stages, NAPOLEON (S Khumalo) was brushed inwards on three occasions by POWER RANGER (M Yeni) which shifted inwards. Jockey M Yeni appeared before the Board with regard to this incident, was shown the patrol films of the race and advised to take measures to ensure that his mounts do not shift ground in races in future. c) Jockey J Gates signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, read in conjunction M, in that he mis-used his crop by striking the horse A WHOLE NEW WORLD more than 12 times in the entire race. In assessing penalty, the Board considered the number of times (16) Jockey J Gates struck the horse A WHOLE NEW WORLD, the distance over which and manner in which he used his crop and his record (0) in relation to this Rule. Accordingly, a penalty of a fine of R1000 was imposed. d) QUEUE WING (S Moodley), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer G B Puller advised (DZ). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES : a) NAPOLEON was ridden by Jockey S Khumalo (advised 16.05.22/10h25). b) PROTEA PRIDE was ridden by Jockey G Wright (advised 14.05.22/18h04). c) A WHOLE NEW WORLD raced equipped with blinkers (advised 16.05.22/8h37). RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER : a) Nil. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED : a) BUGSY MALONE : Coughing. b) DOUBLE GEMINI : Returned post-race having cast the left front shoe. THERE WERE NO SCRATCHING.
