THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) WRITTEN IN STONE (G Lerena) jumped outwards and JUST AS RICH (*K A Brewer) jumped awkwardly leaving the stalls.
b) TAMBORA (C Habib) was slow losing three lengths. Trainer C Binda to be advised to re-school this colt prior to its next engagement (PHvdW).
c) TIKI TAKA (M van Rensburg) was slow losing one length.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:
a) Jockey R Danielson did not persevere with his riding from the 400m and thereafter reported something amiss with LOVE POSY in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly.
b) Jockey S Khumalo (HIGH BORN LADY) and Jockey J P van der Merwe (SO THEY SAY) reported that they felt something amiss with their respective mounts in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine these horses.
Trainer A Azzie was requested to report back to the Board on the condition of HIGH BORN LADY on return to stables.
c) Apprentice P Mxoli was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that he misused his crop by striking SILLY FELLA more than twelve times in the entire race. Apprentice Mxoli signed an Admission of Guilt and a fine of R1500 was imposed.
When assessing the penalty, the Board took into consideration the number of times the crop was used (17), as well as Apprentice Mxoli's recent record with regards to this Rule and Guideline (2).
d) PICTURE PERFECT (D R Lerena), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer Warrick Marwing advised (AH).
e) SO THEY SAY (J P van der Merwe), unplaced, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis (HK).
JOCKEY CHANGES:
a) PICTURE PERFECT was ridden by Jockey D R Lerena.
b) TIKI TAKA was ridden by Jockey M van Rensburg (declared 17 May 2022 at 09H35).
