THE STARTER REPORTED: a) NEW ORLEANS (S Khumalo) was stubborn to load. b) GREEN DREAM (M V'Rensburg) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) Approaching the 800m, GREEN DREAM (M V'Rensburg) was steadied momentarily when awkwardly placed on the inside of PERFECT APPEAL (*M Zuma) which rolled in. Apprentice M Zuma appeared before the Board with regard to this incident, was shown the patrol films of the race and advised to take more care when shifting ground around the turn in future. b) Approaching the 300m, PERFECT APPEAL (*M Zuma) and GREEN DREAM (M V'Rensburg) were carried out by SHAKEN NOT STIRRED (S Moodley) which was hanging out from the top of the straight. As a consequence of this incident, HATTA (*R Venniker) had to be steadied momentarily when tightened for galloping room between the outside running rail and GREEN DREAM (M V'Rensburg). In assessing this incident, the Board could not apportion blame to any individual rider and therefore deemed this to be a racing incident. c) Jockey J Gates signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, read in conjunction M, in that he mis-used his crop by striking the horse CASA ROSADA more than 12 times in the entire race. In assessing penalty, the Board considered the number of times (13) Jockey J Gates struck the horse CASA ROSADA, the distance over which and manner in which he used his crop and his record (2) in relation to this Rule. Accordingly, a penalty of a fine of R750 was imposed. d) WINTER'S DESTINY (K de Melo), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer N Roscoe acting on behalf of Trainer D Kannemeyer advised (HM). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES : a) GREEN DREAM was ridden by Jockey M V'Rensburg and this mare raced with alumites in front, unshod behind (advised 24.05.22/8h20). RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER : a) Nil. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED : a) No reports. THERE WERE NO SCRATCHINGS.
