RACEHORSE OWNERS ASSOCIATION MAIDEN PLATE (F & M) (For Maiden Fillies and Mares)

THE STARTER REPORTED: a) CAPTAIN'S FLOWER (A Domeyer), BACK TO FORMENTERA (JP van der Merwe), HOLA CHIQUITA (*KA Brewer) and MY AMI BEACH (D Bogaleboile) were slow into stride. b) ST KITTS (G van Niekerk) jumped inwards and was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Jockey D Bogaleboile (MY AMI BEACH) briefly lost his right-side stirrup iron leaving the stalls. b) At the 200m BACK TO FORMENTERA (JP van der Merwe) was momentarily inconvenienced when racing between the heels of FOR ALL WE KNOW (G Cheyne) and MY AMI BEACH (D Bogaleboile). c) The saddle on KLASERIE (L Mxothwa) slipped back in running. This was confirmed by the course veterinary surgeon. Jockey L Mxothwa appeared before the Board and was reminded of his obligation to report anything that may have a bearing on his mounts' performance. d) Jockey G Cheyne reported that FOR ALL WE KNOW changed stride continually in running. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this filly. e) Jockey A Domeyer reported that he felt something amiss with CAPTAIN'S FLOWER and he did not persevere with his riding from the 300m. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this filly. f) Jockey G van Niekerk reported that he felt something amiss with ST KITTS and he did not persevere with his riding from the 100m. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this filly. g) Jockey D Bogaleboile was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that he misused his crop by striking MY AMI BEACH more than 12 times in the entire race. Jockey Bogaleboile signed an admission of guilt and was fined R1500,00. In determining penalty, the Board took into account the distance over and manner in which Jockey Bogaleboile used his crop, the number of strikes (13) over the permissible level and this filly's finishing position. h) Jockey G van Niekerk was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that he misused his crop by striking ST KITTS more than 12 times in the entire race. Jockey van Niekerk signed an admission of guilt and was fined R1500,00. In determining penalty, the Board took into account the distance over and manner in which Jockey van Niekerk used his crop and the number of strikes (13) over the permissible level. i) MY AMI BEACH, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
