THE STARTER REPORTED: a) I'M IN CHARGE (*Y Ramzan) was nervous in the stalls and slow into stride. b) JACK IN THE BOX (F Herholdt) stood in the stalls and lost many lengths. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) After being slow away, JACK IN THE BOX (F Herholdt) failed to muster speed and raced detached from the field throughout. b) At the 400m JOE HARMAN (JP van der Merwe) and FORT DAWN (S Khathi) brushed, resulting in both horses becoming momentarily unbalanced. c) Leaving the 400m I'M IN CHARGE (*Y Ramzan) was carried out by STAR RIDER (T Gould) which was hanging out, shifted out and had to be straightened. d) Apprentice Y Ramzan reported I'M IN CHARGE made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. e) In view of the report from the starter regarding JACK IN THE BOX (F Herholdt), this gelding's starting stall certificate has been withdrawn and he is suspended in terms of Rule 61.6.10 and until such time as he proves to be tractable to jump on terms with a companion. Suspension dates: 28/05/2022 to 03/06/2022 inclusive). JACK IN THE BOX may not be presented for re-passing during this period. f) AENEAS, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Jockey A Domeyer was advised on behalf of Trainer C Bass-Robinson. (LM) g) FORT DAWN, the fourth-placed horse was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer SB Kotzen was advised.
