THE STARTER REPORTED: a) HOTCHIWITCHI (D De Gouveia) and BANHA BRIDGE (J P van der Merwe) were slow losing two lengths. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Leaving the 400m, Jockey C Habib was dislodged from CARL VINSON, which broke down and fell. b) Jockey S Khumalo (TIMBAVATI RIVER), in taking evasive action to avoid the fallen horse (CARL VINSON), did not persevere with his riding to the end of the race. c) In the concluding stages, EMERALD PRINCESS (M Yeni) was carried in marginally by JP TWO THOUSAND (G Lerena), which rolled in from the 150m. An objection was lodged by Jockey M Yeni, rider of the second-placed horse, EMERALD PRINCESS, against the winner, JP TWO THOUSAND (G Lerena), on the grounds of interference in the concluding stages. The Board, after hearing evidence from all relevant parties, taking into consideration the marginal carry, the horses' position relevant to each other at the time of the carry and the fact that EMERALD PRINCESS was not sustaining a finish, was of the opinion that the result had not been affected by this incident and therefore overruled the objection and allowed the judges result to stand. Jockey M Yeni's deposit was refunded. d) JP TWO THOUSAND (G Lerena), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer A Peter, acting on behalf of Trainer P A Peter, advised (RS). JOCKEY CHANGES: None. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: a) PICTURE PERFECT raced equipped with a compression mask (declared 24 May 2022 at 12H13). THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) CARL VINSON broke down both front. Humanely euthanased. Specimens collected for analysis. Trainer S G Tarrry advised (TL). SCRATCHED: a) CHYAVANA strained right hind muscle (Trainer) (Rule 53.5 applies).
