The start of this Race was delayed due to the close proximity of an electric storm and consequently races 6, 7, 8 and 9 were rescheduled. PIDGEON ROCK reared in the stalls. Assistant Trainer Nako was advised to re-school this gelding before its next engagement. OLOFBERG was slow, losing 5 lengths. The starting stalls certificate for this gelding has been withdrawn. In view of the Starter's report with regard to OLOFBERG, this gelding was suspended for a period of 7 days and until such time as it proves tractable with a companion on a race day. OLOFBERG may not be presented for repassing during this period. Jockey Zechner reported that SUSPICIOUS MINDS did not stride out freely in running. In view of the Veterinary Surgeon's report concerning SUSPICIOUS MINDS, this colt is suspended from racing in any race under the jurisdiction of the National Horseracing Authority for an indefinite period. A veterinary certificate for SUSPICIOUS MINDS must be submitted to the Veterinary Department of the NHRA, before it can be entered for a race. Such certificate should outline the veterinarian's clinical findings, treatment administered and confirmation that the horse has been examined before and after a racing gallop and is fit to race. When afforded the opportunity to explain his riding of RIGA D'ORA, Jockey Strydom explained to the Board that this gelding was returning from a long rest after pulling up severely distressed and collapsing in his last run on 11 July 2019. His instructions were to give RIGA D'ORA as much of a chance as possible in the early stages of the race in order for him to finish the race off strongly. This gelding had not run on as well as expected but, in his opinion, would have benefitted from this run. Jockey Strydom was advised to ride his mounts out to the end of a race with sufficient vigour and determination so as to leave no room for query from the Stewards. When questioned regarding the change of tactics on AFRICAN ROCK, Jockey Danielson explained that it had not been his intention to race from off the pace. He had attempted to go to the front from the start, however, the horses on his outside had a lot more pace than he did, which resulted in him sitting further back than he had intended. He further added that it was a flat run from AFRICAN ROCK. MOVIE MAGIC was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer Houdalakis will be questioned regarding the improved performance of MOVIE MAGIC. Vet: SUSPICIOUS MINDS - lame right front - recommended indefinite suspension for full veterinary report; coughing; abnormal respiratory noise; fatigued. OLOFBERG and GEMCUTTER - abnormal respiratory noise.
