THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) YOUNG NELSON (*K Strydom) kicked the back gate of the starting stalls.
b) WITH OUR BLESSING (S Devoy) jumped awkwardly.
c) MAYFERN (R Fourie), BOLD RESOLVE (G Cheyne) and WILLO'THEWISP (T Gould) were slow into stride.
d) CHAMPAGNESOCIALIST (C Zackey) and PSYCHO KING (JP van der Merwe) bumped shortly after the start.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:
a) Leaving the 400m MASTERFUL (*Y Ramzan) had to steady to avoid running onto the heels of PSYCHO KING (JP van der Merwe). Thereafter, BOLD RESOLVE (G Cheyne) had to be steadied while attempting a narrow run between BEL PUNTO (W Kennedy) and a tiring PSYCHO KING (JP van der Merwe), which had come to the end of its run and rolled out.
b) Jockey C Zackey reported that CHAMPAGNESOCIALIST did not stride out freely in running and he did not persevere with his riding from the 300m. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
c) In view of the performance of MASTERFUL (*Y Ramzan) the veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
d) AND WE DANCED, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer SB Kotzen was advised. (LM)
