THE STARTER REPORTED: a) HIGH DUDGEON (G Cheyne) jumped awkwardly. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) HIGH DUDGEON (G Cheyne) raced awkwardly in the early stages and had to be encouraged to hold its position. b) At the 200m CRUIZIN CALIFORNIA had to be steadied and made contact with the hindquarter of DOUBLE CHECK (K de Melo) when tightened for galloping room between DOUBLE CHECK (K de Melo) and ALFRED'S GIRL (K Steyn), which tired quickly and shifted out. Jockey K Steyn appeared before the Board and was advised to react sooner when his mounts need straightening in similar circumstances c) Jockey K Steyn reported that he felt something amiss with ALFRED'S GIRL. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this mare. d) Jockey R Fourie reported that SONG did not stride out freely in running. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this filly. e) FYNBOS, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
