THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) NONOTI (*R Venniker) jumped awkwardly and lost two lengths.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED :
a) BEE GOLD (S Veale) raced green aound the turn.
b) AUTUMN SPRIRT (*G Pieterse) was hanging in from the 300m.
c) In view of the performance of LADIES DAY (K Sakayi), (7,05 lengths, betting 8/1), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine.
d) Approaching the 200m, KYNISKA (*C Dicken) was carried in by GUEST GETORIXX (K de Melo) which was hanging in and shifted in. GUEST GETORIXX was then straightened by Jockey K de Melo resulting in this filly losing momentum. Thereafter, KYNISKA (*C Dicken) and GUEST GETORIXX (K de Melo) raced in close proximity in the concluding stages. A race review was called by a member of the Stipendiary Board into this incident, which was followed by an objection being lodged by Apprentice *C Dicken the rider of the third placed horse KYNISKA against the second placed horse GUEST GETORIXX (K de Melo) on the grounds of interference in the straight. After considering the evidence presented and video evidence in this matter, the Board concluded that after KYNISKA (*C Dicken) had been carried in by GUEST GETORIXX (K de Melo), KYNISKA (*C Dicken) headed GUEST GETORIXX (K de Melo) and therefore the Board could not be satisfied that but for the above incident, KYNISKA would have finished ahead of GUEST GETORIXX. Therefore it overruled the objection and allowed the Judge's result to stand. Apprentice C Dicken's deposit was refunded.
e) Trainer P Lafferty signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 39.7.5 in that he failed to vaccinate the horse SLEEK AS SILK against Equine Influenza in accordance with the programme of vaccination as published from time to time in the Racing Calendar. Accordingly, a penalty of a fine of R1000 was imposed.
f) NAMAQUA DOVE (R Fourie), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer G Kotzen advised (NS).
JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES :
a) BEE GOLD raced with steel shoes in front and alumites behind (advised 01.06.2022 / 11h00).
