THE STARTER REPORTED: a) CARUSO (*J Solomons) jumped outwards leaving the stalls. b) MISS MAGICIAN (G Lerena) stood losing many lengths. The Starting Stall Certificate for this filly has been withdrawn. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Shortly after the start, GOLDEN TUNE (M van Rensburg) and BRITISH DIVA (*P Mxoli) were squeezed out when awkwardly placed between MIDNIGHT BADGER (K Matsunyane) and BEVOETERD (C Zackey) who was carried out by CARUSO (*J Solomons) which jumped outwards. Thereafter GOLDEN TUNE never raised a gallop and raced detached from the field. In view of this performance, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine GOLDEN TUNE. Trainer L J Human was requested to report back to the Board on the condition of this gelding on return to stables. b) In view of the Starter's report with regard to MISS MAGICIAN, this filly has been suspended in terms of Rule 61.6.10 for a period of 7 days and until such time as she proves tractable loading and jumping on terms with a companion. Suspension dates: 8 June 2022 to 14 June 2022. MISS MAGICIAN may not be presented for repassing during this period. Stable Employee S Mtwesi advised (GT). c) Shortly before the finish line, LIFE GOES ON (C Habib) which had come to the end of its run, was steadied when awkwardly placed between BACK TO BASICS (N Klink) and LAETITIA'S ANGEL (J Penny) which was carried in by ABALUS (R Munger) which commenced to hang in. d) Jockey R Munger reported that he felt something amiss with ABALUS in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. e) In view of the Veterinary Surgeon's report concerning ABALUS, and in terms of Rule 93.1, this filly is suspended from racing for a period of sixty-days in any race under the jurisdiction of the National Horseracing Authority. Trainer A B Fortune advised (NHA). f) MIDNIGHT BADGER (K Matsunyane), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Stable Employee M Peter advised (AH). JOCKEY CHANGES: a) MIDNIGHT BADGER was ridden by Jockey K Matsunyane (declared 7 June 2022 at 10H21). b) GOLDEN TUNE was ridden by Jockey M van Rensburg. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: a) LAETITIA'S ANGEL raced equipped with blinkers (declared 7 June 2022 at 09H00). b) BEVOETERD raced fitted with a compression mask (declared 1 June 2022 at 13H36). c) CARUSO raced fitted with a compression mask (declared 7 June 2022 at 07H45). THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) ABALUS epistaxis, recommended 60-day suspension. Trainer A B Fortune advised (TL). b) GOLDEN TUNE examined post race, nothing obvious detected. THERE WERE NO SCRATCHINGS. DISQUALIFIED / DECLARED NON-RUNNER: None.
