THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) WEDDING BLISS (S Khumalo) was hanging in from the 300m. b) Jockey W Kennedy (ELUSIVE DREAM) and Jockey S Khumalo (WEDDING BLISS) reported that they felt something amiss with their respective mounts in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. c) Jockey G Wright reported that he felt something amiss with PORT ADELAIDE (AUS) in the running and as a result he did not persevere with his mount in the concluding stages. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. d) Jockey K de Melo reported that he felt something amiss with HYDRANGEA in the running and as a result he did not persevere with his mount from the 150m. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. e) In view of the performance of EYE CATCHING (R Fourie) (5.70 lengths, 7/2 in the betting) the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. f) Apprentice G Pieterse signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, read in conjunction M, in that he mis-used his crop by striking the horse DIAMONDS N DOLLARS more than 12 times in the entire race. In assessing penalty, the Board considered the number of times (14) Apprentice G Pieterse struck the horse DIAMONDS N DOLLARS, the distance over which and manner in which he used his crop and his record (0) in relation to this Rule. Accordingly, a penalty of a fine of R750 was imposed. g) INGAKARA (C Habib), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer M J Odendaal advised (NS).
