THE STARTER REPORTED: a) STAR CRUSADE (A Mgudlwa) jumped awkwardly and was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) Between the 400m and the 200m, GALABIER (*G Pieterse) was brushed in on a number of occasions by ETIQUETTE (*S Hlengwa) which was hanging in from the top of the straight. b) Approaching the 350m, ATOMIC BLONDE (W Kennedy) was brushed in by AL BUGATTI (R Fourie) which rolled in. c) COROMANDEL (M Yeni) was hanging out from the 300m. d) Jockey R Fourie signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, read in conjunction M, in that he mis-used his crop by striking the horse AL BUGATTI more than 12 times in the entire race. In assessing penalty, the Board considered the number of times (14) Jockey R Fourie struck the horse AL BUGATTI, the distance over which and manner in which he used his crop and his record (3) in relation to this Rule. Accordingly, a penalty of a fine of R1500 was imposed. e) ATOMIC BLONDE (W Kennedy), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer P A Peter advised (HM).
