THE STARTER REPORTED: a) VISTA NOVA (W Kennedy) was nervous and fly-jumped leaving the stalls. b) REGIMENTAL (T Gould) jumped slow, losing one length. c) VISIWAY (JP van der Merwe) and TARSUS (*P Mxoli) were slow into stride. d) LIFE ON MARS (*KA Brewer) jumped outwards, brushed the front gate leaving the stalls and thereafter was slow into stride. e) BIG BAY (*Y Ramzan) stumbled leaving the stalls. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) At approximately the 150m WHAT A WINNER (R Fourie), which was hanging in, had to steady when awkwardly placed on the outside of ALPHA PAPPA (S Khathi). b) Shortly before the finish line, VISTA NOVA (W Kennedy) had to steady momentarily when awkwardly placed on the heels of REGIMENTAL (T Gould), which rolled out. c) Apprentice P Mxoli reported that TARSUS did not stride out freely in running. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. d) INHERIT THE RAIN, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer AC Greeff was advised. (LM) e) AL QAASIM, the fourth-placed horse, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer Z Oosthuizen was advised.
