THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Shortly before the finish line, TOTAL PROTECTION (R Munger) was carried in by EYJAFJALLAJOKULL (G Lerena), which shifted both ways away from the crop from the 200m. b) Jockey R Munger was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that he misused his crop by striking TOTAL PROTECTION more than twelve times in the entire race. Jockey R Munger signed an Admission of Guilt and a fine of R 750.00 was imposed. When assessing this penalty, the Board took into consideration the number of times the crop was used (14) and Jockey R Munger's recent record with regard to this Rule and Guideline (1). c) BILLY BOWLEGS (C Zackey), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
