PEACE FLOWER jumped awkwardly, losing 1 length. Jockey Andrews was charged with a contravention, read with Guideline M on the use of the crop, in that he used his crop more than 12 times during the race whilst riding the horse PEACE FLOWER. In coming to a suitable penalty, the stewards considered Jockey Andrews recent record with regards to contraventions of this guideline. Jockey Andrews signed an admission of guilt and was fined. At approximately the 300m, WHITE LACE was tightened for galloping room for a number of strides. Trainer Bass-Robinson appeared before the Board and was interviewed regarding the performance of PEACE FLOWER today as compared to her previous and first run at Durbanville on 5th October. The race of the 5th October was reviewed and it confirmed Miss Bass-Robinsons' statement that this filly had raced green and had been carried sharply out at the 450m. The video further confirmed that PEACE FLOWER had been ridden on merit to the finish. It was also her opinion that the filly was better suited to the 1600m of today's race and had shown improvement in her work after her first run. This explanation was noted. PEACE FLOWER was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
