THE STARTER REPORTED: a) Fair start. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) GIOCATORE (K Matsunyane) raced wide around the turn and into the straight. b) At the 800m, LORD EDWARD (*R Venniker) which commenced to over-race, had to be steadied and switched out to avoid running onto the heels of UMHLALI (W Kennedy) resulting in LOVERS LANE (M V'Rensburg) clipping the heels of LORD EDWARD (*R Venniker). c) LORD EDWARD (*R Venniker) was hanging out from the 350m. d) Leaving the 300m, PARMENION (S Moodley) had to switch in to avoid running onto the heels of UMHLALI (W Kennedy). e) In view of the performance of UMHLALI (W Kennedy) (7.05 lengths, 10/1 in the betting) the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. f) MR HENLEY (K de Melo), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
