THE STARTER REPORTED: a) INTIMIDATOR (G van Niekerk) and BLACKBERRY MALT (L Mxothwa) lost one length. b) NUMZAAN (C Habib) jumped awkwardly as the start was effected and thereafter was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) Shortly after the start, GOTTA HAVE FATE (C Murray) and TAIKONAUT (G Lerena) came together and bumped. Thereafter, GOTTA HAVE FATE (C Murray) commenced to over-race in the early and middle stages and TAIKONAUT (G Lerena) raced green around the turn. b) At the 300m, NUMZAAN (C Habib) had to steady to avoid the heels of RAFFLES (R Danielson) which shifted out suddenly. c) At the 200m, CAPTAIN CATMAN (J P v'd Merwe) which had come to the end of its run, and commenced to give ground, was tightened between BLACKBERRY MALT (L Mxothwa) which shifted out away from the crop and PURE MAVERICK (R Fourie) which shifted in sharply. During this incident, BLACKBERRY MALT (L Mxothwa) and CAPTAIN CATMAN (J P v'd Merwe) became unbalanced and made contact. d) Trainer F Habib was questioned with regard to the improved performance of MOVER AND SHAKER (S Khumalo), the winner, compared to this gelding's previous performance on the 08 May 2022. He explained that MOVER AND SHAKER had been gelded since its previous run and this in his opinion had accounted for the improvement shown today. The Board noted this explanation. e) MOVER AND SHAKER (S Khumalo), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer A Nassif acting on behalf of Trainer F P Habib advised (RVR). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES : a) MOVER AND SHAKER raced with a tongue tie (advised 24.06.22/8h20). b) SIRENS OF SILENCE raced with a tongue tie (advised 29.06.22/8h02). c) NUMZAAN was ridden by Jockey C Habib and this gelding raced with ear muffs (advised 02.07.22/8h52).
