ZENO kicked in the stalls, was taken out and examined, declared fit to race and reloaded. SMART WILLIAM was slow into stride, losing 2 lengths. Jockey Orffer was charged with a contravention, read with Guideline M on the use of the crop, in that he used his crop more than 12 times in the race whilst riding the horse COUNT JACK. Jockey Orffer signed an admission of guilt and was fined. In view of the starter's report regarding ZENO, Trainer Marcus was advised to have this gelding re-schooled before his next engagement. Jockey de Melo reported that ALASKAN NIGHT was not striding out. COUNT JACK was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. ALASKAN NIGHT raced with alumites in front, bar shoes behind SMART WILLIAM is a gelding - to be investigated Vet: BRONZED - not striding out in front ALASKAN NIGHT - not striding out left hind STORMIN NORMAN - abnormal respiratory noise.
