THE STARTER REPORTED: a) Fair start. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) Approaching the 150m, SEVEN PATRIOTS (*M Katjedi) which had come to the end of its run, took an awkward stride and became unbalanced. b) In view of the performances of GRIMALDI (W Kennedy) (3.05 lengths, 9/2 in the betting) and LUCKY DANCER (L Mxothwa) (7.80 lengths, 25/1 in the betting) the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. a) Jockey S Khumalo signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, read in conjunction with Guideline M, in that he misused his crop by striking the horse SNOW PALACE more than 12 times in the entire race. When determining the penalty, the Stewards considered that this was Jockey S Khumalo's 28th transgression of Rule 58.10.2 (Guideline M) since 1 August 2021 and his 3rd offence inside the preceding 60 days period. Accordingly, a fine of R1500 and a suspension from riding at two KZN Race meetings were imposed. (Suspension dates to be advised) b) SNOW PALACE (S Khumalo), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer C Spies advised (RVR). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES : a) JUAN CARLOS was ridden by Apprentice G Pieterse (claiming 2.5kg) (advised 28.06.22/8h03). RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER : a) Nil.
