THE STARTER REPORTED: a) STARLIT STRIP (R Munger) jumped inwards leaving the stalls. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Shortly after the start, ALYESKA (W Kennedy) was bumped in by STARLIT STRIP (R Munger), which jumped inwards leaving the stalls. b) UNYIELDING (S Khumalo) over-raced in the early stages. c) At approximately the 1100m, JANE WILSON (F Herholdt) was carried out by ALYESKA (W Kennedy) which, whilst racing green, rolled out around the turn. d) STARLIT STRIP (R Munger) commenced to give ground to the field from the 300m. Thereafter, Jockey R Munger reported that STARLIT STRIP changed stride continually in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. e) Jockey S Khumalo reported that UNYIELDING made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. f) In view of the Veterinary Surgeon's report concerning UNYIELDING, and in terms of Rule 93.1, this filly is suspended for 60 days from racing in any race under the jurisdiction of the National Horseracing Authority. Trainer M F de Kock was advised telephonically. g) ROCK THE FOX (C Habib), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer T Nako, acting on behalf of Trainer S G Tarry, was advised (RS). JOCKEY CHANGES: a) STARLIT STRIP was ridden by Jockey R Munger (declared 3 July 2022 at 07H56). RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: a) JANE WILSON raced equipped with alumites in front and unshod behind (declared 27 June 2022 at 08H31). THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) STARLIT STRIP examined post race, nothing obvious detected. b) UNYIELDING coughing profusely; blood in nostrils; epistaxis confirmed by endoscopy post race, recommended 60-day suspension. Trainer M F de Kock was advised telephonically (TL). c) ALYESKA not striding out right front. THERE WERE NO SCRATCHINGS. DISQUALIFIED / DECLARED NON-RUNNER: None.
