THE STARTER REPORTED: a) CLARKSON (K de Melo) jumped inwards and MINGSHI (*J Solomons) jumped awkwardly outwards leaving the stalls. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) CLARKSON (K de Melo) jumped awkwardly inwards making contact with the right front gates leaving the stalls. b) Apprentice J Solomons became severely unbalanced after MINGSHI jumped awkwardly outwards making contact with the left front gate. c) Apprentice J Solomons did not persevere with his riding from the 500m thereafter reported that MINGSHI made a severe respiratory noise in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. d) Jockey J P van der Merwe reported that LIVERPOOL LEGEND made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. e) CLARKSON (K de Melo), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer C Dawson advised (AH). JOCKEY CHANGES: None. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: None. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) MINGSHI abnormal respiratory noise and blood in mouth. b) CAPE BOUQUET fatigued. c) LIVERPOOL LEGEND examined post race, nothing obvious detected. THERE WERE NO SCRATCHINGS. DISQUALIFIED / DECLARED NON-RUNNER: None.
