THE STARTER REPORTED: a) PRINCE OF PRIDE (C Habib) was stubborn loading and thereafter was slow losing one length. b) BRAVE VIKING (J Mariba) was stubborn loading. c) STELLA ET CLAVIS (C Zackey) was restless in the stalls. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) MAGWINYA (S Khumalo) which raced with cover up until the 300m, was switched in to continue its run. Thereafter MAGWINYA shifted both ways away from the crop and commenced to hang out in the concluding stages. b) Jockey J P van der Merwe reported that he felt something amiss with ETEEAY in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this colt. c) Jockey C Zackey reported that STELLA ET CLAVIS did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. d) In view of the performances of TIMEINTHEWOODS (M Yeni) (betting 3/1, distance 12,25 lengths) and FORT LAUDERDALE (D De Gouveia) (betting 15/10, distance 13,00 lengths), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine these horses. Trainers B/Y Botes / Vosloo will be requested to report back to the Board on the condition of FORT LAUDERDALE on return to stables. e) JIMMY DON (G Lerena), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
