THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) SECOND TIME LUCKY (*D Geerthsen), ROY'S ROSETTE (*M Katjedi) and LAST SURVIVOR (M Yeni) lost one length.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED :
a) Approaching the 300m, ONE IRISH ROVER (*R Venniker) had to steady momentarily when awkwardly placed on the heels of VIHAAN'S GREY (A Arries) which rolled out.
b) Shortly before the finish, STANLEY PARK (A Mgudlwa) was brushed in on two occasions by DONQUERARI (*G Pieterse) which shifted in away from the crop. A race review was called by a member of the Stipendiary Board with regard to this incident which was followed by an objection lodged by Jockey A Mgudlwa on behalf of the second placed horse STANLEY PARK against the winner, DONQUERARI (*G Pieterse) on the grounds of interference in the concluding stages. After considering the evidence in this matter, the Board overruled the objection. In arriving at this decision, the Board considered the relative finishing efforts of the horses involved, the extent of the interference and the distance between these 2 horses at the finish. Consequently, the Board could not be satisfied that but for the above incident, STANLEY PARK would have finished ahead of DONQUERARI. Therefore, it overruled the objection and allowed the Judge's result to stand. Jockey A Mgudlwa's deposit was refunded. Furthermore, Apprentice G Pieterse (DONQUERARI) appeared before the Board and was advised to take stronger measures to ensure that he keeps his mounts on a straight course in races in future.
c) Apprentice C Dicken (ARABIAN WYLIE) and Jockey C Habib (UNITED PRINCE) reported their respective mounts made an abnormal respiratory noise in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine.
d) Jockey K de Melo reported that he felt something amiss with GLOBAL PATH in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine.
e) DONQUERARI (*G Pieterse), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer L Karriem advised (HM).
JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES :
a) UNITED PRINCE was ridden by Jockey C Habib (advised 10.07.22/7h16).
RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER :
a) Nil.
THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED :
a) ARABIAN WYLIE : Pronounced abnormal respiratory noise, blowing and fatigued. An endoscopy is required prior to racing.
b) UNITED PRINCE : Abnormal respiratory noise.
c) GLOBAL PATH : Nothing obvious detected.
d) ROBINHOOD : Coughing.
