THE STARTER REPORTED: a) TWICE GOLDEN (*M Katjedi) and COLOUR MASTER (G Wright) lost one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) Shortly before exiting the first turn, in a tightly bunched field and as the pace slowed, GREY LINNGARI (M Yeni) and FINAL OCCASION (*C Dicken) were steadied and in turn IN THE SUMMERTIME (R Fourie) and COLOUR MASTER (G Wright) were eased. b) HEY BILL (*R Venniker) was hanging out from the 400m and shifted out between the 300m and the 150m. c) TWICE GOLDEN (*M Katjedi) was baulked for a clear run on a number of occasions from the 250m. d) Jockey J Gates signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, read in conjunction with guideline M, in that he misused his crop by striking the horse CYBER TIME more than 12 times in the entire race. In assessing penalty, the Board considered the number of times (17) Jockey J Gates struck the horse CYBER TIME, the distance over which and manner in which he used his crop and his record (3) in relation to this Rule. Accordingly, a penalty of a fine of R2000 was imposed. e) HEY BILL (*R A Venniker), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer M L Roberts advised (BB).
